Ford has unleashed a wave of new vehicles and technologies at the Geneva Motor Show this year. There’s the European debut for pre-production version of new Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid, which will be built at Ford’s plant in Spain and the European debut of the Ford Focus Electric, the auto giant’s first all-electric passenger car.

Alongside these technological developments, the carmaker has introduced a new product from Ford’s Individual designers, the new Metal Ka. As you can see, the smallest offering in the Blue Oval lineup benefits from an eye-catching new styling theme.

The Metal Ka replaces the Tattoo version and sits alongside the Grand Prix and Digital models which add an extra layer of style and funkiness to the K,a for customers who want to make a bolder statement and stand out in a crowd.

The Metal version is based on the Zetec model line and comes with chrome door and tailgate handles, chrome ‘Ka’ badging, silver 16-inch alloys (or black as an optional extra) and gloss grille surround. On the inside, customers will find the steering wheel has been covered with leather stitched with silver thread. The gear shifter also gets leather accents, couple with high gloss black and chrome details. Chrome effect touches have been brought to the air vent surrounds and the badge on the center console.

Metal Ka is available with both the 1.3-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel and the 1.2-liter Duratec normally aspirated petrol engine.

“With Metal Ka we’re looking at fashion and also a little bit of luxury. You often see high gloss black in large and luxury segment cars but combined with the chrome this is something that is really fun,” said Martin Smith, Ford of Europe’s executive design director.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
