The idea of leaving it all behind and living a life on the road just has a certain something about it. In this spirit, I invite you to take a little trip through one of America's newest motorhomes, the 2024 Flex from Fleetwood RV.
Folks, if you ever make it to Fleetwood RV's website, you'll notice that their opinion of the Flex classifies it as the one "Built for bigger family fun." What does this mean? That's precisely what we're here to find out. But before we do, let's take a closer look at the minds and hands behind this wheeled home.

Behind the 2024 Flex sits the team over at Fleetwood RV, the one and the same that's part of the REV Group of companies, a conglomerate of brands with facilities and personnel all over North America. These days, you can see a REV Group machine in a sizeable chunk of US dealerships, and that's got to mean something.

Now, the Flex is, as Fleetwood states, designed for those of us with extended families or traveling as larger groups. For example, if no one sleeps on the floor, up to eight people will have a place to rest their heads. If the kids don't mind catching Zs in a sleeping bag, that number can easily climb.

Overall, three floor plans are available to choose from, with prices starting at over $200K, $207,886 (€193,500 at current exchange rates), to be precise. Why so much? Well, like any motorhome, this puppy is an all-inclusive habitat, furnishing everything you'd ever need to feel as though you're home, no matter the physical place where you find yourself, and all of that starts off with a Ford F-53 chassis.

I want you to picture yourself at the wheel of one of these buggers. After driving for what would seem like hours, you finally reach your destination with a few hours of daylight left. Park this baby on level ground and get to work.

Get to work? Yup, because before you start to enjoy all that a Flex has to offer, you need to put in a tad of effort and unfurl all that this home on wheels has to offer. One neat thing about the lineup is that it includes slide-outs, and it's at this stage that you'll want to set them into place. When you do, the interior of Flex explodes into view.

From the cab, you'll turn around in your seat to look toward the interior of your home. As you do, you'll be able to spot modular couches, expansive dinettes, entertainment centers, and fully loaded kitchens. Not to mention a bedroom with king bedding, large bathrooms, and even drop-down beds; everything you need to live a full life.

Need nooks and crannies to hide all your things and utensils? No need to worry; plenty of cabinets and hidden storage bays tatter the interior and exterior of a Flex. After all, large families mean lots of stuff. Be sure to stroll through the image gallery we've included. You'll understand what I'm talking about.

However, the Flex isn't all about just sitting around indoors and staying comfortable. What I mean to say is that Fleetwood RV put in the time and effort to taper to the needs and wants of folks who really love the outdoors. Future owners can look forward to a motorhome that is equipped with outdoor living features, the likes of an entertainment center, galley block, awnings, and whatever else you wish to bring along.

Take a moment and think about the sort of campsite that you can bring to life with this machine. You've parked your Flex, whipped out the slide-outs and outdoor galley, and even thrown up a tent annex. This is the space where the outdoor lovers will be kicking back, chatting it up over a fire, and even catching a glimpse of the night sky. Why not sleep outside? After all, you call yourself an outdoor lover.

If I've mixed you in with the wrong crew, and you're all about the lavish side of things, then the inside of Flex is the place for you. Kick back in utter peace, made possible by heaters, water pumps, AC, LED lighting, TVs, and all the comforts of home; there's no need whatsoever to expose yourself to the elements or pesky mosquitoes.

As for myself, I'm all about the raw side of living, and luckily, the Flex really does seem to cater to those needs, too, and I'm not just talking about those outdoor living features. The Flex has the ability to be an off-grid-capable machine, too. It's not only prepped for solar panels but also includes a generator and water-accumulation system. As they say, "For everything else, there's Mastercard," so take the time to look through the massive six-page list of standard and optional features.

Just be warned, by the time you finish going through everything, you may very well find yourself picking up the phone and giving old Fleetwood RV a call. Just be sure to bring along the checkbook, crypto wallet, or gold bullion because this thing isn't cheap, but you can see why.
