Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) of Australia has a long history of hand-building special high performance versions of the local market Ford Sedans. However, its run as an independent manufacturer have come to an end, as the factory where they carried out their work has been closed.
This is the result of Ford buying out British company Prodrive’s share in the company, and as part of the deal, FPV engines will now be built in-house, by Ford, at the Geelong plant. However, none of the staff will be transferred to the new production facility, and they will all be sent home with just five-weeks’ pay!

It is a real shame to see them go, as FPV used to hand build their performance cars, and that`s something that Ford just cannot do, and they needed FPV to do it for them, and make their cars that little bit more special. Even as the equipment was being taken out of the facility, workers were putting the finishing touches on the last Falcon GT to ever leave the factory - a red car, which was still waiting for its rear bumper to be fitted.
