MINI sales are currently struggling, the numbers they posted for 2014 being rather disappointing. At first, this downturn was blamed on the release of the new model but 3 months have passed since the new MINI was launched and sales don’t seem to be picking up.
In this regard, the company thought it would be a good idea to point out that some of the new models are still worth a look, as good investment cars. Therefore, the results of a study were published on Friday, claiming that four MINIs are the Resale Value Giants of their segments.
The study was carried out by the Saarbrucken-based market research institute Bahr & Fess Forecasts which looks at the value stability of all new cars over the coming four years. In reaching their conclusion, a number of parameters were taken into account, like purchase price, vehicle properties, brand image and ratings on comparative tests.
The four models we mentioned earlier are the new MINI One, the MINI Cooper S Paceman, the MINI One Convertible and the MINI Cooper Coupe, all of them posting impressive results that forced the institute to call them Resale Value Giants.
For the MINI One, the resale value was rated at 59 percent of the current retail price in four years’ time, topping the chart created with this occasion. Up next was the MINI Cooper S Paceman with 57.5 percent, the MINI One Convertible and the MINI Cooper Coupe whose value is estimated to go down by 44.5 percent in four years.
Sure, it all looks good and all at first, but keep in mind that most of these cars (with the exception of the Paceman) are entry-level models that don’t cost that much to begin with. Therefore a 50 percent reduction in value is still considerable and should be considered before making a decision.
