Ford to Pay $75 for Each Car with Touchscreen

Touchscreens are undoubtedly the latest trend in the automotive industry, and not only that most customers are looking for such a display but they're also pretty useful, as they provide quick access to a large number of functions. And Ford truly knows that and decided to support dealers who spend more time to explain buyers how to use the company's MyFord Touch system.

Ford told dealers at the National Auto Dealer Association Convention last weekend that they will receive a $75 allowance for each car sold with the touchscreen system, Detroit Free Press reported today. Most dealers complained that they spend too much time with buyers to inform them on the features of the system, while others even revealed that they have hired trained experts to help them in this regard.

"What customers have told us is the longer they spend with the technology the more they enjoy the features of the system,"
said Ford spokesman Steve Kinkade. "It's nice that our dealers are spending some extra time with customers, and this is just a way to support the dealers."

And of course, dealers are pleased with Ford's decision to pay them for the time and expenses they spend to teach buyers on the new system.

"On both the Ford and Lincoln side, there was concern that we needed help in that area, because it takes so much time to present MyLincoln Touch and MyFord Touch,"
Bob Tasca Jr., chairman of the National Lincoln Council and owner of Ford and Lincoln dealerships, was quoted as saying by the aforementioned source.

"Ford really listened... They are giving us some financial assistance to help pay for some of this stuff, which is a good thing,"
Tasca added.
