American manufacturer Ford announced the next move for its advertising campaign created for the 2009 pro football season. The 2010 Taurus will be at the center of a nation-wide party, with locations in 45 states to host around 18,000 guests. The parties will be hosted by 1,000 people, selected by Ford from the over 6,000 online applicants.
“We are thrilled about the level of enthusiasm,” Connie Fontaine, Ford brand content manager said. “Fans across 45 states will not only be crowded around the television watching football this Sunday, but around the all-new Taurus, too.”
According to Ford, this method of promoting the 2010 Taurus was chosen because it is "one of the newest ways to integrate time-tested, word-of-mouth advertising with the popularity of social media."
“It makes the party live longer and be more effective,” added Fontaine. “Hosts can blog about ideas; they can share thoughts and photos, and when the party is over, they can share memories, too, with Taurus at the heart of it all.”
It will be the fourth occasion when the Taurus can be seen by using a viewing platform to promote one of its vehicles. In 2008, Ford organized around 1,100 viewing parties during “Oprah’s Big Give.” It was followed by the Warriors in Pink house parties together with NBC's “Kath & Kim.”
This year, Ford Fusion American Idol House Party hosted 1,000 parties nationwide, bringing Ford a 33 percent purchase intent from viewers. Unfortunately, those who will now want to sign up for the 2010 Ford Taurus Game Day House Party will have to give up, as the applications are no longer accepted.
