Ford Registered All-Time May Sales Record in China

Changan Ford reported that it has registered an all-time May sales record of 23,742 vehicles. The figure can be translated into a 17.8 percent sales increase over the same month of last year and marks Ford’s 16th consecutive month of growth on the Chinese market.

The most impressive growth was registered by the Fiesta sub-compact, which registered a 50 percent year to year sales growth last month, reaching a total volume of 6,547 units.

Backed by Ford's newly-launched 'Feel the difference' brand campaign, the Ford Fiesta was the star performer of another strong month across Ford's product lineup. This reflects Fiesta's popularity among China's young and trendy generation,” stated the press release.

The Ford Focus also registered a solid month of year-on-year growth, with sales rising 11.7 percent in May to 12,631 units.

The Focus Racing Team, symbolizing China's passionate sporty spirit, continued with its success in the second round of the China Touring Car Championship with a dynamic new look and new brand theme on display,” stated the press release.

The Mondeo and the S-MAX both managed to achieve record monthly sales in May, registering increases to 4,113 and 431 units respectively, continuing to follow an expansion trend.

"Our strong sales in May helped reaffirm our expectation for solid full-year growth in 2010," said Nigel Harris, general manager of Changan Ford. "We are inviting Chinese consumers to 'Feel the difference' of our world-class Ford vehicles and services, and they continue to respond with strong demand and a desire for our best-in-class customer service experience."
