With projected sales of 37,000 units through May, which translates into an increase of more than 375 percent over the same period last year, Ford already bested its 2012 full-year hybrid sales record of 35,496.

“We’re working tirelessly to get as many hybrids to the market as we can right now to meet this unprecedented customer demand for our electrified vehicles,” said Erich Merkle, Ford US sales analyst. “The success we are experiencing with hybrids is energizing the whole company.”

According to a press release issued by the company, Ford is now second only to Toyota in the number of hybrid vehicles sold in the United States with market share of 15.5 percent through April 2013. Ford’s current electrified vehicle lineup includes the C-MAX Hybrid, C-MAX Energi, Fusion Hybrid, Fusion Energi, and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid.
