The Ford Mustang was born in 1964, with the vehicle being presented as a 1964 ½ model when it was introduced on April 17 at the New York World Fair. The Blue Oval used the half-year nameplate as most carmakers released their new vehicles in January at the time.
Nowadays, automakers launch new products as they please, so you won’t get to see another half-year model being released. Or will you? Ford may be on its way to giving us just that, if we are to believe the latest rumors.
Ford will release a new generation of the ‘Stang for 2015 and, until now, it’s been believed that the company will offer a 50th anniversary edition with the release of the car. However, Mustang Daily tells us that a Ford employee who handles social media said there will be a special 2014 ½ Mustang to mark the 50th anniversary of the pony car.
The interesting part of the story is that we don’t know if the anniversary model will be part of the current or the new generation, so we’ll give you the news as soon as we get our hands on it.
