Ford HQ Glows Pink for Charity Purpose

In its fifteenth year of support towards the fight against breast cancer, Ford’s World headquarters is illuminated in pink, having the Warriors in Pink logo shining in the center. Though cars and breast cancer don't have that many things in common, the American manufacturer has been the main backer of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, donating over $100 million to the cause to date.

According to the National Cancer Institute, nearly 200,000 women and 2,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States in 2009. Ford Warriors in Pink is a campaign designed to recognize the strength and courage it takes to deal with the everyday challenges of fighting this disease 365 days a year.

The Ford Warriors in Pink campaign not only raises funds, but also works on raising awareness of breast cancer. Limited edition Ford Warriors in Pink apparel is sold exclusively at www.fordcares.com, and 100 percent of the net proceeds directly benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Additionally, with every test-drive of a Ford vehicle from now until December 31, 2009, Ford will donate $20 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure on the customer’s behalf, to the Komen Affiliate in the city of his or hers choice.

"With the Ford Warriors in Pink program, we continually strive to encourage women and men everywhere to join the fight and be a part of the cure for breast cancer. For 15 years, Ford has been committed to fighting breast cancer, standing up for the cause no matter the month. Tonight’s ceremony is designed to show our support for all those affected by the disease," said Mark Fields, President Of The Americas, Ford Motor Company, in a statement for the press.
