Before we get underway with the article, here’s a bit of history for you: The Ford GT90 was a concept car manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. It was unveiled in January 1995, at the Detroit Auto Show as "the world's mightiest supercar". This was before the time of the Veyron, but claimed performance included a top speed close to 250 mph (402 km/h) from a 720 hp (537 kW) quad-turbocharged V12 engine, the exhaust of which was claimed to be hot enough to damage the body panels, requiring ceramic tiles similar to those on the space shuttle to prevent this from happening.
Sounds cool right? So how could a car like this ever be consigned to the history books. So it’s a good thing that Adam Pintek has taken it upon himself to remake what Ford did some 16 years ago in his garage. According to his Nvidia Blog, this will end up being one of the fastest cars on the road once all is said and done.
During the past four years that he’s invested in a the project, Pintek has finished some 80 percent of the body, which perfectly mimics that on the Ford concept. Now, he has teamed up with a Formula race car maker to put together a chassis that’s good enough for the car.
The quad-turbocharged V12 engine is a bit too complicated for the average Joe to make right, so it has been ditched in favor of a 62-liter V8 with a twin-turbo configuration. And in case that isn’t mid-blowing enough, the owner is targeting the 1,000 horsepower magic figure.
