Ford Focus is already a successful model in China and, in order to benefit from this fact, Ford's local joint venture with Changan will roll out the SVP version of the car in the local market. The car comes with a 2.0-liter powerplant mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, similar to the standard configuration found on the Focus, but also boasts a number of sports exterior and interior enhancements.
According to China Car Times, sales of the SVP will commence at the end of this month and will be initially available only a limited edition. A SVP version of the Fiesta is also likely to be launched soon, the source added.
As said, Ford Focus is quite a popular model in China, with Changan Ford, the US-based manufacturer's joint venture in the country, recently rolling of the 400,000th unit.
"We’re proud to celebrate the production of the 400,000th Ford Focus, which was launched here in China four years ago," said Jeffrey Shen, President of CFMA. "With its outstanding styling and drivability, world-class engineering and safety, Ford Focus is firmly established as a star product in China’s highly competitive mid-sized car market. The success of this exciting car reflects Ford’s commitment to the Chinese market – to always provide our Chinese customers with products they want and value."
Furthermore, according to official sales figures, the company delivered more than 10,000 units in July, which represents the fifth consecutive month when this model exceeds the 10,000 unit mark. As for the first seven months of this year, Ford brand vehicle sales were 123,474 units, representing a 21.5% increase over the same period last year.
