The Ford Fiesta didn’t make it into the 2013 World Car of the Year finals, which was won by the seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf (also named the 2013 European Car of the Year), but the Blue Oval-badged vehicle managed to obtain another award, being voted the Women’s World Car o the Year.
The Ford Fiesta was assessed by a panel of 18 female motoring writers who judged the award by several factors, including appearance, safety, value, storage space, ease-of-driving, environmental footprint, color, and even sex appeal. The Ford Fiesta won the final against the Audi Allroad, the Range Rover and the Porsche Boxster S.
In addition, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost-powered vehicle was also awarded with the Women’s World Car of the Year Economy Car accolade for its fuel efficiency.
“The new Fiesta has raised the bar to offer a sharper-looking, better-connected car that is even more fuel efficient and fun-to-drive,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president Product Development, Ford of Europe. “By tuning into the needs of all our customers we are ensuring this small car with the big history has a very bright future.”
