Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Stars in 'Born in Baja' Documentary

It’s not a long-legged blonde, nor a muscular latin guy, but a four-wheeled off-road vehicle which will be making its Hollywood debut on June 23.

The 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor stars in new feature film ‘Raptor - Born in Baja’, a documentary produced by Brentwood Communications and Ford Motor Company. You can take a peak at http://www.fordvehicles.com/f150raptor/.

"I had read in the automotive trades that Ford had told its dealers that the Raptor would be the 'first truck you could buy right off the lot and drive in Baja,' " said Bud Brutsman, BCII CEO and the film's executive producer. "I told Ford, 'Let's prove it.' "

The documentary, which follows Ford designers, engineers and aftermarket organizations as they construct, test and unveil the F-150 SVT Raptor by entering it in the 631-mile Baja 1000 race, will premiere at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, California.

"For 32 years now, Ford trucks have led the marketplace because of our long history of capability and durability," said Doug Scott, Ford Truck Marketing Manager. "With the F-150 SVT Raptor, we are delivering a true off-road performance truck with the proven 'Built Ford Tough' capability and durability that is at the core of every F-150."

The Raptor finished the Baja race third in its class, though it was supposed to be a development drive. After the June 23 premiere, a one-hour television version of the ‘Raptor - Born in Baja’ will air on SPEED on Sunday, July 12, at 4 p.m. EST.

The Raptor will be available in showrooms in July with a MSRP of $38,995. The base-model 2010 Ford F-150 Raptor will be powered by a 24-valve 5.4-liter V8, which develops 320 horsepower.

After the start of production the Raptor will be equipped with a more powerful 16-valve 6.2-liter V8, which outputs around 400 horsepower. Both versions will use the same six-speed transmission and 4.10 gears.
