Ford: Chrysler's Bankruptcy Does Not Affect Us

Following the official announcement that Chrysler is filing for bankruptcy in the United States, Ford quickly came out to calm down its employees and clearly state that such an important move does not affect its operations. Moreover, Ford once again emphasized its commitment to stick to its initial plans and continue the restructuring process as said in early 2009.

"Importantly, we share President Obama’s hope that Chrysler’s bankruptcy will be controlled and quick, while we continue planning for all contingencies as a prudent business measure. Our industry is highly interdependent, and the health of the supply base and dealer network is critical for all automakers. Ford appreciates that the U.S. Automotive Task Force is focused on the stability of the supply chain and is committed to ensuring that a healthy U.S. auto industry emerges from this difficult economic period," Ford said in a statement today.

Nevertheless, Ford's officials are continuously monitoring Chrysler's situation while keeping an eye on their very own company to ensure that nothing could affect Ford's restructuring process.

"Our teams are monitoring the situation and have been working hard for months to ensure that the external environment and industry restructuring do not slow progress on our Ford transformation plan, which remains solid and unchanged,"
it said.

However, "at this time, we do not expect any disruptions to our operations as a result of today’s news," Ford said, underlining that Chrysler's bankruptcy is not affecting the company's business in the United States or overseas.

"All of us at Ford remain absolutely committed to continuing to make progress on our transformation plan. Our greatest opportunity is to create ONE Ford, leveraging our global assets and delivering more high-quality, fuel efficient vehicles that customers want and value."

Ford was the only member of the Detroit 3 group that repeatedly insisted it doesn't need government financing to support its operations, saying that its very own resources could support the company face the economic recession and minimize loses as much as possible.
