Ford Australia will reportedly close its FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) division next year, two years before shutting down its entire production in the country.
According to Drive, the brand will cease all operations after the final FPV Falcon is launched in 2014. To fill the gap until 2016, Ford will sell a more sportier version of the Falcon XR8 with a 335 kW (455 HP) supercharged V8 engine, Brembo brakes and sport suspension, the report adds.

Established in 2012, Ford Performance Vehicles has created Ford-based high-performance cars as a semi-independent manufacturer until late 2012, when it was acquired by the Blue Oval-badged automaker.

In other related news, Drive claims Australia will receive the Ford Taurus and the Explorer as replacements for the Falcon and Territory models respectively. The Ford Mustang musclecar is also rumored to return to Australia in 2016.
