The Ford Motor Company reported that last month it has moved 222,174 vehicles in the United States of America, translating to the best August sales figure in 8 years. Even the Lincoln brand enjoyed a 13.4 percent rise in year-to-date sales compared to January - August 2013, the MKC performing best.
That grand total of 222,174 automobiles sold in August accounts for a 0.4 percent improvement from a year ago, with retail sales clocking 178k vehicles (2 percent rise). John Felice, the Blue Oval's vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and service, said: “both Fusion and Escape set records in August, each continuing on a strong pace toward 2014 being a best-ever sales year. It also was another solid month for F-Series, which again topped 60k sales and maintained its lead as the best-selling pickup in the U.S."

The biggest star of the company was the Fusion sedan, which enjoyed its best ever August sales with 29,452 units moved (19 percent increase). Ford says that the Fusion posted retail sales gains in every region, with the car’s largest increase coming from the West. Then comes the Escape SUV, which moved 28,996 vehicles in the month (up 9 percent), while retail sales of the nameplate were up 23 percent.

As for the Ford Explorer, its sales surged by 25 percent for the best August in 10 years, selling no less than 17,748 examples. That means that the Explorer is on pace to become America’s best-selling mid-size utility vehicle for a fourth straight year. If you're wondering how the pickup truck end of the deal managed the former month, Ford informs that F-Series monthly sales totaled 68,109 vehicles, marking the sixth consecutive month above the 60,000 examples threshold.

Last but not least, the struggling Lincoln brand is boasting with inventory and sales that continue to build steadily for the MKC in particular, with 1,760 units sold in August. Dealerships are nearing full stock of the all-new small premium utility SUV. Overall, Lincoln brand sales are up 13 percent year-to-date through August – a pace expected to increase the rest of the year if all goes well.
