Fittipaldi Tips Schumacher for 2011 Success

Michael Schumacher will return to F1 title contention in 2011. And it's not the German world champion to say it, or his team manager, but former F1 ace Emerson Fittipaldi. The Brazilian racer, a former F1 champion, revealed in a recent interview with The Times that a recent discussion with Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn convinced him that the 7-time world champion will get back into winning mode next year.

And that's because all Brawn was telling him was how the new challenger for 2011 is so suited to Schumacher's driving style, as compared to the 2010-spec car. With a car he feels comfortable in and the tons of experience he has battling for the title, the 41-year old German should be a force to be reckoned with next year, believes Fittipaldi.

I had lunch with Ross Brawn recently and I think the new car will be much more suited to Michael's driving, oversteering into corners. The new tires mean Michael can also develop them to his style and, with a better-balanced car and his incredible belief, he will be a huge contender for the world championship,” said Fittipaldi, according to the aforementioned publication.

He has all of his old ability. In his last race he was there. Every mile you drive in a racing car you learn. Next year he will deliver. When I saw Brawn, his mind was already on 2011. If you're fit physically, you can race on, because you don't lose anything mentally.”

Should Schumacher fight for the title in 2011, we should have an even more competitive season ahead, as this time all world champions driving in the series (Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher, the most in one season in the history of the series) will have realistic chances to increase their F1 title tally.

Needless to say, there's a bunch of things to happen until that discussion will arise, but all the signs point to the right direction so we're hopeful of something big in 2011. As far as Fittipaldi is concerned, his vision of the best racer in F1 at the moment has remained unchanged: “Alonso is the most complete driver.”
