Fisker Surf Reminds Us Why Frankfurt is Awesome

The shooting brake is definitely rising these days, with this niche gathering more and more attention. The obvious example when talking about this is the Ferrari FF. But it's not the only one.
The Frankfurt Auto show has just brought us a new shooting brake, this time with four doors: the Fisker Surf. This is no concept, it's a production car that is based on the Karma (basically, you can see it as a wagon incarnation of the Karma) and will be marketer alongside it starting from July next year.

In case you're wondering, the luggage space can now swallow between 12.7 and 29 cubic feet of your stuff. However, the designer have managed to make wonders, creating a set of styling cues that will make the buying decision anything but one based solely on practicality.

Since we're talking about practicality, we have to mention that the bigger roof allows a more generous solar panel to be installed and that the car isn't much heavier that the Karma, as it is only 77 pounds fatter.

The tech side of the car stays the same, and so does the interior, apart, of course, for the larger room in the back. Fisker is pretty ambitious, aiming to convince around 3,500 customers per year that they need such a surf board carrier.

The Surf is a first-of-its-kind eco-friendly lifestyle vehicle that offers space, performance and luxury design for people who live an active, environmentally conscious lifestyle and like to drive beautiful cars,” said Henrik Fisker, CEO/Executive Design Director, Fisker Automotive.
