First Lotus Evora Hits the States

North America met its first Lotus Evora this week, after the car was brought into the US by Lotus of Austin, to be handed over to its new owner, Austin-area resident Bruce Rice. The event was of significant importance for the carmaker and dealer alike, with a party being thrown in honor of the first delivery.

"Delivering the first Evora in North America was an exciting moment for John Eagle European and the Lotus brand,” dealer principal Sonny Morgan said at the event.

“The multiple award-winning Evora is one of the most advanced new sports cars available in the world, and the very first customer car is on the road today right here in Austin."

The Evora, the only four seats sports car in the world to have the engine mounted in the middle of the chassis, is powered by a 3.5l V6 engine, which develops 276 hp. Weighing only 3,000 pound, the troop is enough to give the Evora not easily matched performance levels: 5 seconds naught to 62 acceleration time and a top speed of 160 mph (257 km/h).

As for the fuel consumption figures, they go around 22.8 mpg (12.4 l/100km) in urban cycle, 43.5 mpg (6.5 l/100km) in extra-urban conditions and 32.5 mpg (8.7 l/100 km) in combined mode.

Last year, Lotus announced it manufacture 2,000 Evoras per year with the first 450 units being the Launch Editions fitted with special features.
