We all know that Mustangs and crowds don't mix. However, this 2024 model spared the crowds in favor of an inanimate target, hitting a curb with the passenger-side rear wheel hard. As you can also tell from the sole photo uploaded to the r/Mustang subreddit, we're also dealing with a deployed curtain airbag.
There is no information available on where or why the S650 crashed. The OP suggests that we're looking at the first crashed S650 (the Ford Motor Company's internal codename for the seventh-generation Mustang), which may be correct because a quick search on Copart reveals no 2024s at all.

Details on the car are understandably lacking as well, although we do know a few things about it. First and foremost, the exterior design is specific to the GT, meaning 5.0-liter Coyote V8. The fourth-gen Coyote, that is, which packs dual throttle bodies instead of a single throttle body for the previous-gen Coyote.

The gray-painted aluminum wheels are optional. They measure 19 by 9 inches up front and 19 by 9.5 inches out back. By comparison, the standard wheels boast five double spokes and 18 inches for every corner. The chrome 5.0 badges on the front fenders are standard. Had they been finished in black, that would've meant $1,195 for the Nite Pony Package.

Look even closer, and you'll notice a body-color rear wing. In combination with the Pirelli summer tires, it appears that we're also dealing with the Ford Mustang GT Performance Package. At press time, $4,995 is the sticker price of said optional extra.

The color of this particular GT is the no-cost Atlas Blue Metallic. As for the seating upholstery, it appears that we're dealing with Black Onyx instead of Space Gray. Final price? Conservatively speaking, something like $50k for this exact specification.

If you're curious why Mustangs crash so much, the answer is complicated. On the one hand, remember that certain people aren't used to rear-wheel drive. In a manual-equipped vehicle, downshifting also requires matching the RPM to keep the rear end in check. Speaking of which, less weight over the rear axle is why the Ford Mustang tends to fishtail in certain scenarios. But most importantly, remember that a GT is an open invitation to reckless driving.

In combination with a lack of experience, the driver won't be able to correct oversteer. Even when you're well above average in terms of car control, mistakes can happen. For example, Adam LZ binned an RTR Spec 5-FD Formula Drift S650 at Formula Drift Long Beach in April 2023. Thankfully, Lizotte-Zeisler walked out of the crash with only a bruised ego.

Quite a bit less powerful than the Formula Drift racecar, the GT puts out a respectable 480 horsepower and 415 pound-feet (563 Nm). With the optional sports exhaust, peak output levels up to 486 horsepower and 418 pound-feet (567 Nm). As for the Dark Horse, its engine is rated at 500 horsepower.

Well, that didnt take long
