Fiat USA Announces New 500 Turbo

There used to be a time when you only found “Turbo” logos only on the fastest sedans and coupes. But these days, you can find it on any old MPV.

Thankfully, the Fiat 500 Turbo is a cool car. The model was shown at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California, and is basically the halfway point between the regular 500 and the 160 horsepower Abarth. Priced at $19,500 in America excluding destination, it’s also price in the middle of those two.

Powering the 500 Turbo is a 1.4-liter MultiAir producing 135 horsepower, basically like the base European Abarth without the esseesse pack. A sports exhaust systems is offered. It’s there, but it’s only for the left side of your car, which is a shame.

The exterior of the car differs from the standard 500 via 16-inch wheels, a more pronounced bumper, blacked out headlights and taillights and a diffuser at the back.

"The new Fiat 500 Turbo is the answer to all the fans that loved the style of our Cinquecento but wanted more power and performance for their daily drive," said Tim Kuniskis, Head of FIAT Brand North America.
