Two British drivers have clinched two Guinness World Records by driving a Fiat Panda TwinAir from Cape Town (South Africa) to London (UK).
Philip Young and Paul Brace completed the 10,300 mile campaign in 10 days, 13 hours and 30 minutes, breaking, by far, the previous record of 14 days, 19 hours and 26 minutes. The British drivers also claimed the London to Cape Town in any direction record, which was set at 11 days, 14 hours and 11 minutes.
Their journey in the little Fiat Panda began on February 1, 2013 and ended yesterday, after a backbreaking marathon of more than 1,000 miles a day.
When traveling from South Africa to London, Young and Brace also became the first people to drive across the new land border between Sudan and Egypt, as well as northern Libya, on two routes forbidden for foreigners due to a high risk of terrorist attacks.
