Fiat Group Offers Map Update Web Store

The Fiat Group offers its first satellite navigation map update website. The Fiat Map Update Web Store offers maps compatible with all the current range of navigation systems available on the Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo.

The web portal has been created by NAVTEQ, a global provider of digital map, traffic and location data, and is aimed at offering support for the drivers of the Fiat Group’s cars. The site will also be operated by NAVTEQ and offers users the possibility to pay in four currencies: GBP, Euro, SEK and CHF.

The data transferred from the website can be uploaded in the car’s navigation system through a media storage device. The content is protected by a special unlocking system. Fiat can ship the data written on a media storage device if the customers wish to receive it in this way.

"NAVTEQ specializes in navigation and has a wealth of experience in developing, promoting and managing map update business," explained Bruno Bourguet, NAVTEQ Senior Vice President.  "We have the expertise to operate a premium service for the Fiat Group Automobiles which is designed to improve customer satisfaction and increase sales," he added.

The Fiat Map Update Store is available in six languages : English, Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The products available on the website can also be purchased via the automotive group’s dealership network.
