Ferrari Hail Alonso-Massa Explosiveness

Amid rumors that there's going to be tension between the Ferrari drivers prior to the start of the 2010 season – with Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso having some history together since the 2007 season – team principal Stefano Domenicali once again insisted that this is hardly the case.

Not only that, but the Italian official actually told the media present at the Madonna di Campiglio ski resort in northern Italy (for the annual Ferrari presentation event Wrooom) that the atmosphere within the Scuderia has already suffered a positive chance with Fernando Alonso's joining the prancing horse.

It's a sparkling environment. It's like a gush of fresh air which brings new stimuli,” said Domenicali, while also arguing that a pair of explosive drivers is just what Ferrari needs in order to return to greatness in Formula One.

If by explosive you mean a couple of drivers that are strong, aggressive, competitive and have the ambition to win, this is the minimum goal that Ferrari must have together with its drivers."

Let's not forget that our characteristic has always been putting the interest of the team at the core of everything, both Felipe and Fernando know what our context is, how they have to move and the rules of our team. I tackle things calmly. The rules are very clear: whoever comes to Ferrari knows where they are working and they appreciate how we work,” added Domenicali.

The Wrooom event actually marked the first time since Alonso and Massa met as Ferrari teammates. Although the two have also met during the Brazilian Grand Prix last year – when it was already announced that Alonso will drive for Ferrari starting 2010 – the Spaniard was still a Renault racer at the time.
