Ferrari Continues Jerez Action for Promotional Purposes

The Formula One teams completed their second test of the off-season on Saturday, but that isn't to mean the Jerez de la Frontera track will get any days of rest prior to the 3rd meeting of the winter, due to commence on Wednesday. Another 4 days of testing are scheduled at Jerez this week, with the group of teams to proceed to the action being supplemented by an additional entry – Lotus F1.

The Malaysian-backed team has presented their 2010 challenger during a media event in London the other weekend, and plans to debut their T127 model in testing on Wednesday.

However, plenty of teams are now using the 3-day break in testing to take care of their promotional duties for the season to come. The “show” was set up by newly-entered Virgin Racing, whose cars were alive on the Spanish track on Sunday for “promotional and sponsor filming.”

Ferrari will continue the promotional action on Jerez on Monday and Tuesday, as it now emerged that the Italian team had booked the track exclusively for these two days a while back. As most of you remember from their Ferrari F10 launch event a few weekends ago, Felipe Massa was initially scheduled to do the filming-purposed outings at Fiorano.

However, bad weather prevented the promotional laps from taking place near Maranello. So it was rescheduled for the first couple of days of this week.

McLaren Mercedes have done the same exclusive stuff at Jerez last week, when they used the track for two days prior to the test meeting also for promotional purposes.
