Ferrari Cancel Promotional F10 Test on Friday

Ferrari will not debut their F10 model on the track this weekend, as poor weather near Maranello forced the Scuderia to cancel their promotional drive of the car on the Fiorano circuit. The drive was scheduled to take place yesterday, but was also postponed due to poor weather conditions.

Following the car's revealing during yesterday's presentation event in Maranello, Ferrari announced that Felipe Massa will take the new car to the track either on Thursday afternoon, or on Friday morning. Now that neither of these two sessions could be carried out successfully, Ferrari F10's official debut will be with the rest of the 2010 challengers, at Valencia.

It should have been an appetizer for Felipe Massa: 100 kilometres to shoot some video's for the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro's partners, but snow and ice here in Maranello – yesterday and today – didn't allow the Brazilian driver to go onto the track with the F10,” said the press release from Ferrari.

The decision to postpone the single-seater's debut on the track has been taken in the morning after a last check in Fiorano. The technicians are less worried about the state of the track's tarmac, but about the run-off areas covered in icy snow: so there is no point in taking any unnecessary risk and even maybe damaging parts of the car,” added the report.

Consequently, Massa's first test-drive of the F10 will take place at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, first thing Monday. The Brazilian driver is scheduled to run Ferrari's new car throughout the entire day, after which he'll hand it over to Fernando Alonso for the remaining 2 days of the Valencia test (the first on of the winter).

Like the other teams, Ferrari will have 15 days of testing prior to the start of the season, a period of time in which the team will be able to further adjust their single-seater in relation with the problems that might occur. All testing days will be ran on Spanish soil, at Valencia, Jerez and Barcelona.
