Ferrari Announces New Era in Formula One

Ferrari's technical director Aldo Costa gave the Italian tifosi something to hope for. And that would be a “new era” for the Prancing Horse, something that actually started happening from as early as the 2010 season. Although the Italian squad's efforts this year have only been good for 3rd place in the constructors' classification, Costa has a good explanation for that.

“What we have done is revolutionise our working methods and this meant a period of adjustment. And we paid for having a wind tunnel that was a bit dated. But now we have solved the problem and begun a new era,” announced the Italian official in a recent interview with Italian daily La Repubblica.

In fact, Costa insisted that Ferrari's season in 2010 has been on an upper trend, as the Scuderia further closed the gap on Red Bull in terms of car development.

“This year we did reduce the gap to Red Bull,” added Costa, trying to bring out the positives in the 2010 campaign.

We'll remind you that the Red Bull RB6 was one of the fastest cars of 2009 and the Austrian team built on that for the 2010 campaign, while Ferrari's 5 wins this year have been an impressive upgrade as compared to 2009's sole win from Kimi Raikkonen.

One more reason for hope in 2011 (for the Ferrari-ans, of course) should be the fact that the Italian team has signed former McLaren chief engineer Pat Fry during the course of 2010, with rumors suggesting that his main job for the second part of the recently ended campaign was to develop the racer for next year.
