Ferrari 458 Entering FIA GT1 Championship

The Ferrari 458 Italia is ready and eager to prove its might in yet another series, as SRO Motorsports Group has announced the 2012 FIA GT1 Championship grid will soon include a pair of the mighty supercars. There, it will have to face the might of he Nissan GT-R and the Lamborghini Gallardo. The field will also include entries from teams running Audis and BMWs.
"The addition of Ferrari to the 2012 line-up makes for a mouth-watering array of supercars racing in one world championship," Stephanel Ratel, Founder and CEO of SRO said. "The Ferrari team brings to five the number of confirmed teams and we are in advanced talks with a number of other teams. For reasons of confidentiality, we are respecting the wishes of those teams to announce their participation in their own time."

The 458 Italia race cars for the 2012 season will be revealed this week, and they will be gradually tested in time for the first race, France’s Nogaro on April 9th.
