Felipe Massa Targets Win at Ferrari's 800th GP

Felipe Massa returns to Turkey with the sole thought of getting some points back from the leaders in the overall classification, as the Brazilian is currently placed 5th in the standings, 14 points behind teammate Fernando Alonso and 17 behind Red Bull pair Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

Being that this is a track where he won for a record 3 consecutive times – until last year's dominating performance from Brawn GP's Jenson Button – Massa cannot help but feel very excited about the prospect of finally racing his rivals in his backyard. Confidence is the word of the day in Massa's corner, and the Ferrari-an is planning to capitalize on the great expectations this weekend.

It's a track which I love to race on, I enjoy driving this track and I won three times in five races. It's a great story for my career, it gives me even more motivation to go there and push even harder to fight for the victory. I hope we're going to have a good weekend and that everything works well, because it's a nice track,” said Massa prior to the Turkish GP, which was actually his first win in F1 back in 2006.

Talking about this year's race, Massa insisted that Ferrari can really make a difference in Turkey and outscore championship leaders Red Bull in the race, with only two conditions: no mistakes in qualifying or race and, more importantly, competitive tires provided by Bridgestone.

I believe we can bring a good car. I hope everything will work well, the tires especially. If everything works perfectly I think we can have a competitive car,” added Massa, while admitting that having the opportunity to win for Ferrari in the Scuderia's 800th grand prix in Formula One is another element that will boost his performances this weekend.

In case he does that, Massa could put at least some of the rumors at rest for a while, as more and more media have already placed him outside of the Ferrari team next season. His deal with the Scuderia runs out at the end of 2010, and there are at least 2 drivers linked with his 2011 seat already: Mark Webber and Robert Kubica.
