Mark Webber Linked with Ferrari Seat in 2011

We've heard some pretty strange rumors in recent weeks about the drivers' market for the 2011 season of the Formula One championship, but the latest is probably the most interesting. According to no less than 3 sources – whose reporters have probably ran out of stories – Mark Webber is top of Ferrari's list to replace Felipe Massa for the upcoming F1 season.

Britain's The Sun, Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, as well as British journalist James Allen have all hinted that the 33-year old Australian may race in red in 2011. Additionally, according the first of those sources – The Sun – a switch to Ferrari or a stay at Red Bull are currently Webber's only chances of continuing his F1 career from next year onwards.

A Red Bull stay for 2011 is highly unlikely for Webber, despite his great personal and business relationship with team manager Christian Horner – with whom he co-owns a GP3 team. According to several sources, a deal with former Ferrari-an Kimi Raikkonen is being pursued by Red Bull by July, as Webber's contract runs out at the end of this season.

El Mundo even suggested that a drivers' exchange might take place between Ferrari and Red Bull, with Felipe Massa joining Vettel at Milton Keynes and Webber coming to Maranello to join Alonso. That would allegedly happen if Raikkonen decides to stick to his WRC programme for an additional year, something that he'll announce midway through this season.

Another rumor – which is obviously more close to the truth – suggests that Renault's Robert Kubica has already signed a pre-agreement with Ferrari for the 2011 season, as his current deal with the Enstone based team runs out at the end of 2010. The Pole has been in Ferrari's eyesight for quite a while and his recent form – as well as his good fame within the F1 paddock – recommends him as a perfect fit for Alonso's teammate (the two are also friends).
