As the car sponsor of the team, Audi has once again invited Bayern Munich players to drive test their latest line-up. The squad of licensed players received their new official cars at Audi in Neuburg.
It has happened before, and it will probably happen again. This time around, in addition to an Audi driving experience, four soccer players got to enjoy fast laps as passengers of Audi driver Tom Kristensen and Markus Winkelhock. It’s a champion-meets-champion kind of situation, considering Tom Kristensen won the LeMans 24 hours nine times while Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski just became the scorers of Tuesday night’s historic “five-goal game.”

On the other side sat Mario Gotze and David Alaba riding along with Markus Winkelhock. Everybody had quite an excellent time as they were enjoying the circuit in Neuburg. The fast laps in the race car version of the Audi Sport TT Cup were the highlight of the symbolic vehicle handover to the club this Wednesday.

50 new vehicles - that’s what Audi is handing over to FC Bayern almost every six months or so. The soccer players have a free choice from the model range. This time, according to the German automaker, most of them opted for the premium brand’s sportiest models. Eight players chose the Audi RS7 Sportback with the 4-liter TFSI engine that, as a result, is the most popular car with the squad.

Franck Ribery, Mario Gotze and Javier Martinez are among those who went for the RS7 while the second place goes to the Audi RS 6 Avant. The latter seems to be the “weapon of choice” for the likes of Xabi Alonso, Manuel Neuer, coach Pep Guardiola and others.

It was not just about picking up a new ride with this event. The Bayern team later participated in a short Audi driving experience. The program featured practice sessions with the Audi R8 on a handling course and the Audi Q7 on an off-road course, followed by the fast laps with Tom Kristensen and his fellow Audi race driver Markus Winkelhock.
