Have you ever seen a pair of VW split screen buses lining up for a burnout series? What do you mean by “no”? That’s only normal during a drag strip session, with the machines warming up their tires before the battle.
We want to show you what is probably the fastest VW split screen race in the world. We’ve seen these old school blue collar Vee Dubs go even faster than the pair of machines we see here, but their combined output has determined us to name the battle in the way mentioned above.
In the Grey Corner, we have a machine powered by a 2,986cc engine, which has gone down the turbocharging route. The output of this apparently smiling VW sits at over 600 hp.
In the Red Corner, we find a fire truck-themed VW, one that is powered by a 2,387cc heart that is said to deliver 280 hp on its own. This turns to Nitrous for extra oomph, packing an 150 hp shot. Don't trust these figures entirely though - you'll see why below.
The two have met over the weekend, with the sheer sight of them battling being enough to make for a memorable moment.
As for the other competitor, this completes the quarter mile sprint in 12.08 seconds at 114 mph (184 km/h).
Both buses managed to grab quicker times on later runs. And while the Grey one maintained its superiority, their times of 11.62s and 11.84s, respectively, should make the third and fourth fastest VW Split Screens in the world. For the sake of comparison, we'll mention that's Lexus LFA fast.

Time to talk about the quarter mile numbers these machines achieved
As usual, the fire crew (of one, in this case) managed to reach its goal on time. The Red machine was the winning vehicle, managing to pull an 11.7 run at 112 mph (that’s 180 km/h for all you reading this across the pond). As for the other competitor, this completes the quarter mile sprint in 12.08 seconds at 114 mph (184 km/h).
