Faraday Future's Second Teaser Claims to Have Reinvented the Wheel

That means the Chinese-backed company will have to bring something new to the table: either increased range (hard to believe), better performance (even harder to believe) or a lower price tag (absolutely impossible for a low-production company). With these not very likely to happen, what else is there left?

Well, Faraday Future would like to believe it has reinvented the wheel. Looking at the video in which the wheels are, indeed, very prominent, we don't get what it's on about. They're still round, and they look like a standard ten-spoke rim we've seen on countless other cars. The best we can think of is they have a special design that reduces drag and increases range, but that's not exactly something new either.

However, Faraday is trying to build up the hype around its upcoming electric crossover, and in those few moments when the whole car shows up instead of just its wheels, the unnamed vehicle does look promising. We do know now that under all that black fabric and zebra camouflage, there is a metallic red body hiding.

We can also see the Faraday Future crossover is going to use much more conservative lines than the Model X, even though there is definitely some padding underneath the fabric, so any details of the car's shape are still shrouded in mystery.

Equally elusive is the financial situation of Faraday Future, considering its main sponsor, the Chinese billionaire Jia Yueting and his LeEco empire is apparently struggling to find the cash necessary to support its ongoing projects. And Faraday's $1 billion plant in Nevada isn't exactly cheap - not even for a billionaire.

But Faraday Future seems to remain silent about any of this and keeps on launching teaser videos, so we guess everything is alright. If that turns out the case, then we should get to see the car in all its splendor next January, at CES 2017.
