F430 Won Valuable Points this Weekend

The F430s did well this weekend in three major international GT series, bringing valuable points in the race for their teams. In the FIA GT Championship, the American Le Mans Series and in the Spanish Open GT Championship as well, Ferrari clinched a place on the podium.

The FIA GT Championship moved to the second round, on the shortest and tightest circuit of the season, the 2.7 km of Adria. This were the only two hours of night racing on the calendar, but that didn’t stop the two F430s entered by the Italian AF Corse squad to get 14 points from getting the second and third spots of the podium, behind the Porsche 997 of Emmanuel Collard and Richard Westbrook.

Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander managed to finish second, ahead of the other Ferrari crewed by Alvaro Barba Lopez and Niki Cadei. The third round of the FIA GT Championship will take place at Oschersleben in Germany, on June 21.

As for the American Le Mans Series, the Utah Grand Prix was held at Salt Lake City’s Miller Motorsports Park, where the Risi Competizione Ferrari, driven by Jaime Melo and Pierre Kaffer made it to the third place. That brought valuable points for the Houston Ferrari team. The next round is scheduled to take place on July 19, at the Lime Rock circuit, in Lakesville, Minnesota.

The Open Spanish GT Championship was also in its second round at the Portimao circuit in the Algarve, Portugal, Giacomo Ricci and Michele Rugolo, in the Advanced Ferrari F430, were second, but they maintain the leadership in the championship. Third was for the Trottet Ferrari of Fassler-Camathias, ahead of the Megadrive Ferrari of Marco Cioci and Piergiuseppe Pierazzini. The Spanish GT series is next scheduled for July 26, at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
