Tiny home builders have successfully proven that architecture gems can come in small sizes too. An impressive version of what is already an iconic tiny house design is the perfect example – it's contemporary in every way, beautifully crafted using the best materials, and elevated through sophisticated details.
If something has proven to be successful, it makes sense to build upon that success rather than starting something else from scratch. Canadian builder Fritz Tiny Homes has built a name for itself through the immense popularity of its Halcyon design and has continued to grow by adding versions of the same basic model. At this point, the Halcyon DNA has secured a solid reputation among tiny living enthusiasts, and each new version continues to build upon it and bring out new, exciting facets.

The Halcyon Stay is as welcoming as its name suggests. This is one of the most luminous, open, and spacious single-level homes on wheels on the market, without sacrificing the warm coziness of a more traditional home. It all starts with the generous size, particularly the unusual width. The Halcyon Stay is 10.6 feet wide (3.2 meters) and 31 feet long (9.4 meters). The 13.6 feet height (4.1 meters) also contributes to the overall spaciousness.

Even though everything is on the same main-floor level, the Halcyon Stay discretely adds depth and visual interest through modern design elements while exuding a strong connection to the outdoors, which creates the illusion of a living space that overflows into the natural surroundings, blurring formal boundaries.

A metal siding and beautiful timberwork combine to create a modern residence with a subtle rustic charm. The Halcyon Stay's windows are undoubtedly its wow factor. There are a lot of them (eight fiberglass windows plus a full glass door), and several boast a floor-to-ceiling height. It's unusual for a house this size, and the effect is truly dazzling. It's one of the things that turn this home into an architectural gem. Except for the bedroom and bathroom area, which require a certain degree of privacy, most of the house feels completely open to the outside world.

The effect is tremendous from the outside and from the inside. It turns Halcyon Stay into a head-turner for anyone passing by and a luxurious sanctuary for its dwellers. The kitchen/dining area is the most spectacular part of the home in this regard, boasting not just one but two oversized windows that flood it with natural light. One of these panoramic windows takes up the entire end wall for spectacular views. It also connects beautifully to the exterior covered porch, which extends the living space outside.

The ultra-modern layout was carefully matched with contemporary-style furniture. Instead of a basic dinner setup, an unusual L-shaped breakfast bar provides a generous surface for family dining and work activities. It also connects seamlessly with the custom cabinetry throughout the kitchen. This is a full kitchen equipped with premium appliances, including a full-size fridge.

The living room is also spacious yet cozy and intimate due to its strategic placement at the center. It's nestled between the kitchen and the bedroom area, which adds a traditional, homely vibe. It still gets plenty of light thanks to the main glass door and the window behind the sofa, but it's not as open as the kitchen.

In addition to the large, welcoming sofa, there's ample space for classic living room furniture, a wall-mounted TV screen, and a gorgeous fireplace, which is the cherry on top. This is not a tiny, rustic fireplace but a statement piece. In fact, according to the builder, the Halcyon Stay was literally built around it. Part of what makes it so special is that it was integrated into the custom concrete.

This concrete is one of the trademarks of this luxurious design. The entire house boasts custom concrete tile throughout, and the kitchen countertops were also custom-made from the same material. Inside the spacious, spa-like bathroom, the custom concrete sink doubles as a décor element. As for the rest of the bathroom equipment, customers can choose between a shower and a bathtub and the type of toilet they prefer.

A high level of customization is what sets the Halcyon Stay apart from the basic version. The builder describes this as its most customizable and flexible model, starting with the kitchen and bathroom furnishings all the way up to a choice between skids and wheels. Customization is also available for the bedroom, where future owners can opt for a classic queen-size bed or a hydraulic-lift version to allow more storage. There's also generous space for various laundry options.

The pocket sliding doors throughout are a key part of this home's contemporary, sophisticated layout. They allow owners to create as much openness or privacy as they wish – sliding all of them open ensures a unique indoor/outdoor flow that erases any space limitations.

The only downside is that the Halcyon Stay isn't as affordable as other homes on wheels in the same size category. Luxury comes at a price, and in this case, it starts at CDN $210,200 (151,500). Further customizations and an optional off-grid package would raise costs significantly, but it's most likely worth it – this is truly a home that's designed to stay.
