It’s not easy being rich. You always have to be on the lookout for the best and most powerful cars out there, and you’ll never be quite sure that you made the right decision.
Being poor is much easier. When looking to buy a car, you’re pretty much limited by your income and how much you’re willing to spend on it. Therefore, if you only have $2,000 to spend, it’s not that hard to make a decision.

However, if you’re willing to go well over the $100,000 margin and want a full-size premium sedan with more than 550 HP to play around with, two obvious choices immediately pop-up: the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

The guys from Motorsport Magazine know that the two are direct competitors and set them up against each other in an exhaust sound showdown, to see which makes the better impression.

You should know that the two aren’t stock models though. The M5 is fitted with the Competition Package which means it uses a revised M Performance Exhaust system made in collaboration with Akrapovic that sounds absolutely beautiful and refined, all the time.

Apart from having a meaner, lower growl, it’s also quiet enough that it doesn’t wake up the neighbors every night and it doesn’t set off the alarms in the neighborhood whenever you go over 2,000 RPM. And yet it sends the proper message: don’t mess with my V8!

The Merc, on the other hand, is an S model which means it has more power and torque but the same exhaust as a regular model. This one makes a hell of ruckus, saying “Don’t mess with me!” all the way to the market and back again.

The two are brilliantly showcased in the video below and you can pick your favorite. Sure, the sound quality could’ve been better but we’re thankful for what we can get. Let us know which one you prefer!
