Sprung out of Embraer, one of the top players in global aviation, Eve Air Mobility has everything it takes to become one of the leaders in the emerging AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) market. Even before the official launch of its commercial aircraft, Eve has established a powerful international network, which now includes Singapore.
With AAM operations still in the very early stages, whoever secures a prime position in some of the biggest and most important markets stands to gain a lot. It's no secret that Asia Pacific is one of the most promising areas for AAM expansion, eyed by most eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) makers and other AAM players. Within this huge region, Southeast Asia has a special status because its commercial aviation industry is still growing, which means more possibilities and greater openness for new projects.

For instance, two new airports are currently being built in the Philippines (the New Manila International Airport) and Cambodia (Phnom Penh Techo International Airport -TIA), which will both explore adding infrastructure and operational guidelines for electric aircraft service, including eVTOLs and electric jets.

Yugo, a Singapore-based aviation operator, has links to both of these countries through its extensive network that includes PhilJets in the Philippines and Helistar in Cambodia. This is what positions it to become one of the AAM leaders in the region, and it does plan to support electric air taxi operations in all of these locations, including Singapore.

The first step is to look at infrastructure and operational requirements, and this is Yugo's main focus right now, together with Eve. The announcement comes one week before the Singapore Air Show, where the Eve air taxi prototype will make its public debut in the Asia Pacific region.

An eVTOL cabin mock-up will be displayed at the Singapore Air Show, together with a VR system that will enable visitors to find out what it feels like to be a passenger of the Eve eVTOL. It will be the latest appearance of the Eve eVTOL cabin mock-up in Eve's world tour that started two years ago.

Last year was one of the most important ones for the eVTOL maker. Eve confirmed multiple suppliers, including top names in the industry, announced the location of its first production facility, and kicked off production of its first full-scale prototype. This year, Eve plans to start the flight testing campaign of the prototype.

The Eve air taxi is a lift-plus-cruise eVTOL fitted with eight lift rotors for takeoff and landing and one push rotor for cruise flight. Performance-wise, it promises a short range of 100 km (60 miles) at a top speed of 100 knots (185 kph). The aircraft is expected to enter commercial service by 2026.
