Even before Infiniti had reinvented itself naming strategy starting with the M-replacing Q50, Infiniti was playing with the idea of a luxury compact hatchback.
Under the name "Etherea", this concept appeared in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show and has been around the rumor mill more times than we can count. From a Mercedes A-Class derived car, to one that's built in Sunderland by Nissan and even outsourced to Magna, the latest reports from Britain now suggest something completely different.
A story published by Autocar magazine says the Etherea will enter production as the Q30. Most likely, the platform will be shared with next generation of Qashqai which will come out early next year.
Infiniti boss Andy Palmer says the Q30 will pretty much have a market segment all to itself, sitting somewhere in-between the Audi A3 and the Audi Q3.
