A while back, we were telling you that BMW wants to reward all the brave men and women that took up the challenge to test their electric BMW ActiveE models that shaped the life and specs of the i3.
Those people were called electronauts back in the day and the useful data they gathered over millions of miles covered in their special EVs was paramount for BMW. To say thank you, the Germans announced that they will be the first to receive their brand new i3 cars, if they chose to, according to BMW Blog. That’s not all though.
Their cars would be special, wearing the ‘Electronaut Edition’ monikers. That means that they are fitted with unique features such as heated front seats, DC fast charging systems (allows the car to charge up to 80% in 30 minutes), exclusive interior and exterior badging, custom license plates and custom embroidered board bags.
Furthermore, they’ll have access to the BMW Smart Charging App that will be available exclusively to Electronauts over the course of 2014 and will work on both Android and iOS handsets. The app will help the driver reduce the electricity expenses for his car, automatically calculating the optimized charging periods for the i3.
The first such cars are bound to be delivered today, marking the first i3s to reach their owners in the US. Hopefully, everyone will enjoy their new BMW EVs.
