After gathering valuable knowledge working for reputable and award-winning yacht design studio Alberto Mancini, creative Jay Aberdoni decided to go solo. He is now at his second independent design, Dust, and based on the renderings of it, it is yet another winner.
The Spain-based designer has ten years of experience in the yacht designing industry and is a visionary who wants to steer away from traditional ideologies when it comes to creating his vessels. In fact, he mentioned in a past interview that his goal is to offer a different experience for yacht owners, and so far, he’s definitely on the right track.
His first independent design was that of the 233 ft (71 m) Posterity, revealed a few months back. Aberdoni’s most notable “trademarks” are the extensive use of glass in his designs and the automotive-inspired silhouettes, which you can clearly see reflected in both of his creations. Posterity flaunts a clean design with sleek and fluid lines, plenty of social spaces that blend seamlessly into one another with no partitions being used, low bulwarks, and an overall gentle look.
Dust, on the other hand, is more striking in appearance, as explained by Aberdoni for Superyacht Times. This new superyacht concept is a bit larger, measuring 272 ft (83 m) in length, and the designer goes all poetic in describing it, comparing its silhouette to “stardust behind a comet.” because it leaves a trail of desire wherever it sails.
Aberdoni continues by mentioning the sharp edges that run along the yacht’s superstructure, giving an effect of thin decks. Dust also features an additional deck (compared to Posterity) dedicated to the disguised wheelhouse with an inclined windscreen, just like a sports car, which blends with the superstructure.
Dust exudes elegance and luxury, with up to 16 guests being able to take advantage of its high-end amenities. They can be accommodated across 8 staterooms. The whole interior design of the Dust has a Zen vibe to it and aims to relax those onboard.
Just like Posterity, the new Dust also abounds in glass, with one of the most appealing features of the superyacht being the overhanging glass swimming pool. When the sun goes down, it illuminates the deck, creating a calm atmosphere.
Dust comes with a generous, 3,767 sq ft (350 sq m) beach club with space for sunbathing, a bar, a social area, and a firepit that offers direct access to the water. Water toys are also included, along with a garage to store them in.
