Dunlop, the official tire supplier to Moto2 and Moto3 introduces a new overtaking league table called #ForeverForward. That is because GP racing is not all about the premier class, or at least not only about it. The Moto2 and Moto3 feed the MotoGP with young talents and these races are sometimes much more enthralling because action is more frantic.
Having more bikes on the track equals more intense action with a lot of overtaking opportunities and Dunlop wants to reward the best riders in direct combat. #ForeverForward is, if you wish, the Moto2 and Moto3 version of the MotoGP M Award, a special prize which goes to the rider with the biggest number of pole position in a racing season.

James Bailey, Director, Motorsport PR and Communications adds: “We asked fans why they love these championships and they told us it was the overtaking, the battles and the fighting throughout the field. In a world where many racing championships get criticised for providing processional races we believe this award, and the debate it will create on social media, will attract new audiences to the excitement of these championships.”

At the end of the season, two riders in each championship will receive the new Dunlop #ForeverForward trophy, rewarding those who made the biggest progress. Not sure yet if this award can be handed to a rider who would (potentially) dominate a series the way Marquez did last year in MotoGP.

Aspar left without title sponsor Drive M7 two days before the 2015 MotoGP Championship kicks off

As hard to believe this may sound to you, Aspar Honda, home of Eugene Laverty and 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden was left without a title sponsor. Malaysian energy drinks manufacturer Drive decided not to continue sponsoring Aspar and the decision was conveyed to team boss Jorge Martinez on Tuesday night.

Seeing Drive M7 drop from the deal is a total surprise, as it looks like no such hints were given so far in pre-season testing. Both Aspar drivers could be spotted testing the 2015 machines wearing the distinctive green/silver leathers, but it looks like Drive couldn’t care less. Seeing the energy drinks manufacturer dropping sponsorship for Aspar may be attributed to the high costs the presence in the premier class comes with and the possible impossibility to justify them to the stakeholders.

We saw the same move last year from Go&FUN, who put an end to their collaboration with Lucio Cecchinello’s LCR Honda. Without solid financial support LCR was no longer able to pay the invoice for the satellite Honda the team has been running and had to let it go in favor of marc VDS. LCR finally secured sponsorship from the financial group CWM, and was lucky to get a lot of money upfront: CWM is now under investigation for some alleged frauds.

Martinez is definitely out looking for sponsors, and we hope it will not be too long until we see new liveries for Hayden and Laverty, as well as one of their bikes. Tomorrow is the big day, as the first Free Practice of the season starts in Qatar.
