What if we told you there’s a dune buggy out there that uses a Porsche 911T engine and that, if for some reason you wanted it, you could purchase the thing?
This is one of those proposals that come from the darkest corners of eBay, so, when we came across it, we simply had to share it with you.

At first, we were rather considering purchasing some rotten tomatoes, just so we had something to throw at a man who used the retro flat six for such a heretic purpose. Then again, we don’t know the exact history of the car, so we prefer to think about this story as perhaps one that involves a salvaged engine.

Regardless, the rear-engined mid-engined tubular chassis machine may only have around 130 HP, but this is one lightweight creature. We’ll remind you the 1970s 911T has a 2,341 cc heart.

As for the part where this is described as a street-legal machine, we have to explain those slick tires are going to be an issue.

Sacrilege aside, the story of the vehicle is not exactly inspiring. The current owner, who is selling the thing on eBay, explains he didn’t have the vehicle inspected after buying it and storing it in a facility located in Connecticut.

The engine is reportedly in stock condition, and it appears the previous owner sold the vehicle due to health issues. As for the current owner, the man even offers us a reason for selling the contraption - “I wanted to make a street racer for Cars and Coffee, but I have too many cars, a new boat and a big tax bill to pay.”

Unsurprisingly, the thing is not exactly a hit on eBay. For instance, it’s now listed at $13,999, which is a $1,000 cut from the previous, unsuccessful auction.
