Ducati Scrambler Chased by Rider Filming It

Days before the much-publicized Ducati Scrambler will be introduced at the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany, the bike was caught testing in Italy, near Bologna, and here’s the story. It’s funny how awesome things happen when you expect the least, and the video after the jump is the perfect proof.
It’s the case of a rider who was out having fun in the warm Italian autumn sun and who was stopped at a junction while having his helmet-mounted GoPro recording his trip. The fellow spots a camouflaged bike and decides to follow it. It’s hard to say whether he realized or not that this was the very Ducati Scrambler everybody has been hunting down for months, but this is of lesser importance.

Even though he was heading straight ahead, the chap quickly decides to pursue the camo bike and get a better view for the camera. He catches up with the Scrambler rider who had a pretty moderate pace and then rides abreast the Ducati, to get a clear shot of the bike.

Apparently, the Ducati test rider did not observe the camera in the first place, as he doesn’t try to run. However, seconds after the chasing bike caught up with him, he realizes he’s being filmed and flees. The chase is obviously on, as the camera guy is not willing to let go and follows the Scrambler until it goes off the road, possibly towards a private property or so. The guy who recorded all this sent the video to MCN and the Brits ran the story.

As far as we can tell, even though we still consider that the Scrambler is a rather ugly bike, it seemed to hold pretty decently through the twisties at a higher pace, even though canyon carving is definitely not the main intended use for the bike. Next week the Scrambler will be unveiled at Intermot, but until then, I’ll still be a little paranoid and never discard the (small, yet real) possibility that even this spy video was a publicity stunt from Ducati. I might be wrong, of course, but either way, enjoy the video!
