With less than 4 weeks left until the DTM season opener, BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz presented the new technical innovations and regulations that will take effect in the racing championship starting this year.
The most important new technical feature is the Drag Reduction System. This allows the drivers to manually adjust the rear wing from inside the car in order to increase their top speed or help with braking.

The second important technical change involves changing the tires. The new ones will have a different, softer texture that will allow the drivers to achieve better lap times and higher top speeds.

Also, starting this year, the use of fresh tires in the fourth and final qualifying session is no longer allowed. Moreover, after the qualifying rounds, the teams have to specify the kind of tires they will be using during the race.

Another new rule is that during the race the two mandatory pit stops can be taken at any time, excepting, of course, the first and final three laps.

The BMW teams will be stationed at Hockenheim until Friday, where they will continue working on fine-tuning their cars for the 5th May season opener.
