Dovizioso Tops Wet Jerez Testing

Honda's Andrea Dovizioso, who recently stated that it was slightly unhappy with the mew bike from his team, was the fastest rider in this weekend's Jerez testing, a session interrupted by rain. Dovizioso set the fastest time of 1:51.488 while Chris Vermeulen arrived 0.200 seconds behind.

Marco Melandri came third, 0.617 seconds behind Dovizioso, while former champion Casey Stoner and "The Doctor" Valentino Rossi decided that it would be better to stay away from the wet track.

Kosuke Akiyoshi, former Suzuki rider who is now replacing the injured Dani Pedrosa, also chose not to participate in this weekend's testing stage following the poor weather conditions.

A thing worth mentioning is that nobody managed to set a lap time in the first hour, with only 10 of the 19 riders registered for the Jerez testing stepping onto the track.
