Domenicali Not Worried About Losing Ferrari Job

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali said he does not feel in any way worried over his position within the Scuderia. The Italian, who has taken over from legendary Jean Todt at the helm of the Maranello team at the end of 2007, says he would step down in a second should someone more capable step in for the job.

To be honest with you, that is not really the problem. If that was the problem by the fact that I could be available for everything and the situation would improve, then a company guy who has worked for Ferrari for 20 years, I would be the first to do it. To be honest I don't think that is the point to make sure we are able to go back to our standard level,” said Domenicali.

While coming to Barcelona with an updated package for the F60, the Scuderia again did a terrible job calling the right shots for its two drivers. While Kimi Raikkonen paid tribute to some poor strategy during qualifying – failing to get past Q3 – Massa was forced to save fuel in the dying laps of the race because some of the fuel did not go into the car's fuel tank during the pit stops. As a result, the Brazilian lost 2 positions in the last 4 laps, finishing on a disappointing 6th place.

This is not the first time this year the team is confronting with poor strategy decisions, apart, of course, from the F60's dramatic lack of reliability or performance. Nevertheless, Domenicali insisted the entire team should work on not repeating these mistakes and said replacing the whole personnel is not an option.

I think that we need to rely on our people to make sure they will do a step in their performance. It is easy to say to people - go home! Then, what do you do? You don't improve the situation for that, so we have to be very rational now. We need to put all the problems one behind the other, because for sure the problems up to now are not acceptable,” added the Italian.

As for the mistakes that occurred during the Montmelo race, Domenicali added that the team is yet to find out what caused Raikkonen's throttle failure in the race, as well as what was wrong with the refueling.
