What was once a matter of science fiction, electric cars that might replace fossil fuel burners, has become reality, so why shouldn’t other sci-fi elements follow in future year? We’ve all seen how much computers are becoming a part of our everyday lives, so automated machines that take care of us might be coming.
At first, that might seem like a good idea, as we’d have more time to enjoy if robots walked the dog, made us food or drove us around in our EVs. But Dodge thinks differently and is trying to prove they don’t make boring cars for bland people.
Dodge says that we might let them do everything else (cooking, cleaning and other chores), except the driving, and we happen to think that sound very manly, in a William Wallace “They May Take Our Lives, But They'll Never Take Our Freedom!” sort of way.
The commercial features one man that has had enough and decides to take back control of his vehicle (which looks like a strange bubble car with that lights and grille of a Charger). The ad then cuts back to the present day, when Dodge brags that robots "will never take our cars."
Unfortunately, the comment section of the video is filled with posts saying that the 2011 Charger is controlled in some way by the computers controlling the automatic transmission or the electronic stability program (ESP), but we’ll let that slip because the Charger has a big V8 and it’s cool.
Until the day a robot writes this article, just watch the video below and tell us if you start getting a mental image of Ralph Gilles as head of the resistance in the next Terminator movie... we can totally see that being possible.
