Chrysler LLC is counting on four of its most successful platforms to save the company from financial disaster. In the report filed Tuesday to the US Government, along with the financial steps to be taken, the American manufacturer announced it will launch new versions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Charger, Dodge Durango and the new Chrysler 300.
The aforementioned plan contains a computer generated image and some details about the new version of the Chrysler 300, the company's flagship sedan. While the exterior and interior look of the new version can be seen in the photos, the 2010 model hides a new fuel-efficient six-cylinder engine under the hood, in addition to the existing Hemi eight-cylinder. The latter features the Multiple Displacement System (MDS) that automatically deactivates engine cylinder to reduce fuel consumption.
The safety features that will be fitted onto the new 300 include Rear Cross Path and Blind Spot Monitoring systems, aimed to warn drivers of unseen vehicles. The already common safety features, such as Electronic Stability Control, four wheel anti lock brakes and seat mounted side air bags also come packed into the new 300.The new Chrysler 300 will become available sometimes next year. Price ranges for the new version have not been released.
Chrysler’s viability plan is built around a production plan that includes 24 new version launches in 48 months and the introduction of electric vehicles to help meet current federal fuel economy standards. This means the Company will renew more than 60 percent of its total sales volume in key market segments.
“The 2010 pipeline is full, plus we have these smaller vehicles coming through partnerships and alliances" Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli said.
