Dodge and Mopar to Stay as NASCAR Canada Sponsors

A much more limited racing program, fewer races, not nearly as much excitement as in the US. This are probably the defining traits of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, but clearly not enough to keep two brands which have motorsports running through their veins away.

Two of Chyrsler's finest, Dodge and Mopar, announced at the end of the week that for 2011, they will continue to support the series and its drivers. The 12 races of the season will thus get flooded with Mopar and Dodge vehicles and logos.

For the fans, the most important thing is that the new 2011 Dodge Charger RT will be seen leading the pack, as a pace car, at all the events. For the drivers, the involvement of the two big names of the industry means the chance to be part of the manufacturers' Fast Five list, meaning the recipients of cash prizes in between $500 to $2,000.

The Canadian motorsports presence of the American manufacturers will intensify in 2011, expanding to include a national contest at the end of which one lucky Canadian will walk away with a Dodge Charger that comes right off the set of the latest Fast and Furious movie, Fast Five.

“Our Dodge vehicles and Mopar parts are a natural fit with NASCAR racing in Canada," said Ed Broadbear, Chrysler Canada marketing vice president. “Motorsports is at the heart of Dodge. In fact, many of our products are race-inspired, which is why it is so vital for us to support and recognize the passion of drivers and fans that follow the sport.”
